        Mission Statement

The Mission statement of the Clayton Beautification Committee, CBC is to implement an action oriented plan that would ultimately aid in the attraction of economic development to our area, in all aspects.

Vision Statement

The Vision Statement of CBC, is to see Clayton grow and prosper in a clean and beautiful environment. We would like to assist Clayton in getting its community pride back. Cleanliness and Beautification need to be added to the long list of assets that already exist in Clayton.

Most importantly, CBC is about helping one another and assisting those in need with their own beautification projects.

Recent Projects and Events

Ongoing Car Crushing Project

The Car Crushing Project is still underway in Clayton. People are taking their old cards and old scrap metal to the Worley Mills Building site. Once we have close to 100 or so cars, the Car Crusher will come to get these items crushed. Several people have called to have us take their cars to the site for them; we have moved about 12 cars.

Centennial Park Renovation:

We have completely renovated the Centennial Ball Park. Activities include:

bulletThe dug outs, concession stand, and trash cans have been painted
bulletSold 38 baseball shaped signs purchased by local businesses (annual maintenance fee from each sign will go toward fixing up ball field each year)
bulletThe Town of Clayton has ordered new playground equipment
bulletAn outside perimeter fence has been installed
bulletA new sprinkler system and grass/sod will soon be in place
bulletBBQ grills and tables have been ordered

City-wide Clean Up

The second city-wide cleanup was held on May 19, 2001. The group concentrated on the truck by-pass and picked up approximately 50 bags of trash along that road. This cleanup was held in conjunction with the statewide "Great American Cleanup" which was sponsored by the New Mexico Clean & Beautiful organization. They provided the tee-shirts and trash bags for this annual event.

Letters to Absent Homeowners and Building Owners:

One of Claytons problems is that some people who own property in Clayton, but do not live in Clayton, seem to let their properly deteriorate to a point that the property becomes an eyesore and a danger.

The CBC has sent letters along with a picture to theses owners requesting them to cleanup, repair, or consider selling or renting these properties.

A three-step letter process has been implemented, with the third letter stating that the City will send out ordinances.
