December 2001
The Town of Clayton has taken
significant steps to meet the changing needs of
Clayton. We are working on all facets of City services, including
improving
recreation, airport facilities, and infrastructure needs. Some of our
ongoing
projects include the following:
Swimming Pool:
The city has hired an engineering firm from Raton to look at the feasibility of remodeling the old swimming pool. The pool needs a
new plastic liner; pumping system; and mechanics. The firm is currently working
on a
preliminary design, and hope to have the pool open by Spring 2002.
Ball Field:
Our activities including re-fencing and securing the ball field area
with a perimeter fence; completing the construction on the playground
equipment; and continuing work on new exhibit building.
Airpark: We
are working on an airport runway expansion program. With
this improvement, the airport will be able to accommodate larger planes
and
we will offer more services.. Additionally, construction will begin in
January
on a directional beacon.
These are just a few of many projects and programs
underway. I want to thank all
of the Town of Clayton residents and community organizations for their
commitment and dedication to ensuring a positive quality of life. Because
of your
help, we are truly making things happen! Please call our office,
(505)374-8331, if you would like more information on these projects.
