UNION COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
CORPORATION, INC.
(UCCDC)

The UCCDC is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that was formed in the Spring of 2002. It was formed as a result of the Comprehensive Planning process undertaken during 2001 and 2002 by the Town of Clayton and Union County. The purpose of the UCCDC is to be the catalyst for Economic Development activities in Clayton and Union County. The UCCDC seeks to achieve its purpose through serving in the following three capacities:
    1. Coordinate and serve as the clearinghouse for economic development projects in the community.
    2. Provide leadership in the recruitment of businesses to Clayton and Union County.
    3. Pursue resources (i.e.; money, grants, loans, investors) for the revitalization of Clayton and other identified areas of Union County.
The UCCDC will also serve as the lead organization to ensure the implementation of Clayton’s and Union County’s Comprehensive Plans.

The members of the UCCDC are:
  1. Terrell Jones, President
      Principal, Clayton Jr. High School
  2. Pal Austin, Vice President
      Associate Broker, Big Country Realty
  3. Shirley Carter, Secretary
  4. Gina Windle, Treasurer
  5. Mark Van Wormer, Executive Secretary
The UCCDC meets the third Thursday of the month. The meetings are open to the public who are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.

Current projects of the UCCDC include:

1. Recruitment of a prison.
2. Packing plant.
3. Distribution Center for retailer.
4. Development of an Assisted/Independent Living facility.
5. Downtown Clayton Revitalization.
6. Rural Readiness Program, Parks and Recreation, and Biomass.
7. Finalization of Clayton’s and Union County’s Comprehensive Plans.
